Abstract:

1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP) is utilized as a solubilizer in industrial applications. NMP is widely used as a penetration enhancer in pharmaceuticals and controlled-released systems. The acute toxicity of NMP is reported to be low; however, NMP is teratogenic, and high concentrations exposure to pregnant rats may lead to abnormalities in fetuses.
